DAYO AMUSA RAISES THE BAR AS SHE PREMIERES NEW FLICK

Silverbird Galleria, Ikeja was agog on Sunday, October 27th, when Dayo Amusa pulled her weight as colleagues, friends, media icons, top entertainment personalities and highly placed individuals turned up to witness the official premiere of her new movie, UNFORGIVEABLE in which she played the lead. The well attended premiere was a massive gathering of celebrities who lend their undying support to the producer, Dayo Amusa. The Nollywood favourites in attendance included Desmond Elliot, Kunle Afolayan, Patrick Doyle, Femi Adebayo, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Sodiq Adebayo, Laide Bakare, Tunde Bernard (Baba Tee), Niyi Johnson, Toyin Aimakhu, Doris Simeon, Liz-Da-Silva, Bayray Mcwizu, Bakky Adeoye, Ireti Osayemi, Toyin Alausa, Iyabo Ojo, Funmi Fiberesima, Fidelis Duker, Publisher News of the People, Loye Amzat, Seun Oloketuyi, Ibironke Ashaolu, Wale Akanbi and many more.





The red carpet was bursting with fans and celebrities who could not wait to enjoy what the producer had promised would be the best movie of the year, which based on the resounding applause and reviews when the curtains came down about two hours later was sure proof that the fans were not disappointed. The obviously impressed fans made laudable comments about the story line and the overall production of the movie. From the impeccable performance and delivery of the cast, to the directing and filming-editing even the music composition was well executed which together brought about a great movie. Mike Ezuruonye and Desmond Elliot gave award winning performances and turned heads with their expression in Yoruba language.


Unforgivable, directed by Desmond Elliot topped the Best of Nollywood Awards nomination list with 11 nominations. The film is being nominated in Best Actor in a leading role in a Yoruba movie, Best Actress in a leading role in a Yoruba movie, Best Child Actor, Best Movie with the best social message, Best Kiss in a movie, Best Make-Up, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Edited Movie, The Onga Best use of Nigerian Food in a movie and Best Movie of the Year Award.

With an ingenious storyline, UNFORGIVEABLE portrays different characters with the theme of love, violence against women, cancer, death, love gone bad and regret. Mike Ezuruonye is the protagonist playing the rare role of a bad boy unlike his usual lover boy role. Desmond Elliot is the peace maker who missed out on getting the love and affection of Dayo Amusa. The movie features talented actors and actresses like Dayo Amusa, Mike Ezuruonye, Bukky Wright, Desmond Elliot, Fathia Balogun, Bidemi Kosoko, Bimbo Thomas, Iyabo Ojo, Niyi Johnson, Lawal Aisha, Titilayo Shobo amongst others, while it introduces new acts like Ibironke Ashaolu and Wale Alabi.

The movie will be available at the cinemas nationwide from Friday, November 1st,

GLAM&ESSENCE STYLE AWARDS HOLDS IN NOVEMBER


The second edition of the Glam & Essence Style Awards and Runway Show 2013 is set to hold come November, 2013. The event, which was established to celebrate outstanding individuals within and outside of the fashion / beauty sector, had its maiden edition in 2012, with special awards won by Mrs Folorunso Alakija as Style Icon of the year, Chief (Mrs) Shade Okoya as Style Personality of the year, while Mrs. Folake Majin emerged Lifetime Achiever for Fashion. This year’s edition is with a twist, as the event is slated to celebrate style divas & blokes within the Showbiz circle. Alongside the categories outlined to honour designers, some of the categories up for considerations in the showbiz sector are: Most Stylish Comedian, Most Stylish Movie Star (Male & Female) Most Stylish Music Star (Male & Female) Best Styling in a Music Video, Best Styling in a Movie, Best dressed new Showbiz Personality (male & female) Showbiz Stylist of the Year. Special Recognition Awards are also to be given out at the event to men and women who have made impact on the style scene. 

Numbering amongst them is Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Architect. Mrs Mo Abudu, Mrs Betty Irabor, Mr Kunle Bakare, Chief (Mrs) Oprah Benson, and First Lady of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola as well as Mrs Funsho Amosun, First Lady of Ogun State. The event will be holding on the 17th November, 2013 at the Sheba Center, Ikeja, Lagos. It promises to be an evening of fun, fashion and music, with banking giant, First bank to telecoms company, GLO as well as top fabric company, Daviva among others on board, to lend their weight to the event.

MUSTAPHA AMEGO:FUNKY MALLAM TO BE BURIED TODAY

Former President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Mustapha Amego a.k.a Funky Mallam who lost his battle with colon cancer on Wednesday, 23rd October 2013, will be laid to rest today at 2pm (Eastern Time) according to Muslim rites in Maryland USA. Prayers will hold prior to burial at the Prince George's Muslim Association Hall, Maryland.
Mustapha who hailed from Kano State, and a degree holder in Cinematography, was a musician, presenter, hair dresser and a showbiz personality. He anchored the popular weekly dance show of the 90s, Sunday Rendezvous. He fought for the rights of musicians in Nigeria during his tenure as President of PMAN and made sure their voices were heard.  He re-located to the USA 15 years ago and continued his showbiz passion. He worked as a content producer at the Discovery Channel and floated his own journal. His last project was an Online TV News programme called The World Today.
He is survived by his wife, Marie and his 14 year old daughter, Fatemma.
