Julius Agwu, Nigerian stand up comedian , Abolore Akande (9ice), Nigerian Musician and indigenous lyricist have both recently declared their intention to join the league of politicians come 2015.
While Julius has declared to run for governorship in his home state, 9ice is eyeing the House of Representative seat for his Ogbomosho constituency. While some quarters are saying Julius's intention might be one of his jokes, some believe his intentions are real.
One is not surprised because there have been artistes, particularly in the Nigerian Nollywood Entertainment scene who have joined politics and are doing well. The likes of Richard Mofe Damijo, Hilda Dokubo, Rotimi Makinde etc are all success stories in the game. A lot of fans are wishing them well hoping they will have the masses, who are their biggest fans in mind when they finally get to the platform.
