Reports say 81 year old America's Funny Woman, Joan Rivers might be reduced to a vegetable, left with a permanent brain damage and wheel chair bound after the process of bringing her out of coma is complete. From the reports, this process will be completed by Tuesday or thereabout.
The comedian has been in hospital since Thursday when she suffered a cardiac arrest after she stopped breathing during a vocal cord surgery at a clinic in Manhattan. She was moved to Mount Sinai Hospital, New York for the procedure of bringing her out of coma to begin.
Rivers, a Brooklyn native and pioneer in women stand-up comedy has been on the scene since the 1960s. She was the guest host of "Tonight Show" one of the biggest shows of the 1980s. She moved on to create "The Joan Rivers Show" an Emmy Award-winning daytime show and then "Fashion Police" the popular show on E! based on the fashion faux pas of Hollywood celebrities. She has also starred alongside her daughter, Melissa in the TV reality show, "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best".
Known for her penchant for plastic surgery, she is believed to have had over 739 procedures. While her daughter isn't happy with her for that, she is quoted to have said plastic surgery is like drinking coffee, she goes in for it almost every weekend, and gets the 10th done free as a regular customer. She once joked that she wished she had a twin so she could see how she would look like without plastic surgery.
However, she is said to be a hardworking, healthy and strong woman even in old age.
